| The 36th Guernsey chess festival will be held on the 17th to the 23th of October 2010, at the Peninsula Hotel, Grand Havre Bay. Excellent rates at such a high quality hotel £31 sharing and £38 for single occupancy with breakfast, see rates list below. Print off an entry form on the link below and submit it to enter. | Rounds begin at 14.00 each day apart from the last round at 09.30. The time control is 40 moves in 100 minutes with remaining moves to be completed in a further 40 minutes with a 30 second increment per move from move 1, endeavouring to produce high quality games. | |||

| The first Guernsey International Chess Festival was held in October 1975 at the Old Government House Hotel. In 1979 the event moved to the Ronnie Ronalde's St Martins Hotel where it remained until 1994 when it moved to the Peninsula Hotel where it has been held ever since. | |||
| In 1983 a holiday tournament was held alongisde the main open tournament for the first time and the two tournaments have been held every year since. In 1989 226 players participated in both tournaments. |
