The 43rd Guernsey International Chess Festival will be held on 15-21 October 2017 at the Peninsula Hotel, Guernsey.

A Seven Round, FIDE rated, Swiss Competition OPEN TO PLAYERS OF ANY GRADE

Players with low ratings will be encouraged by the organisers to enter the Holiday tournament

Time limit: 40 moves in 100 minutes and then 40 minutes to finish with a 30 second increment per move from move 1

ENTRY FEE £40 (includes prize-giving dinner: juniors £30 entry fee)

Main Prizes £1,200 : £600 : £300 : £200 : £150

A Seven Round, FIDE rated, Swiss Competition (with a bye possible in any of the first four rounds) OPEN TO PLAYERS GRADED BELOW FIDE 1900 Elo

Players with a National rating above 1800 (ECF 147) will be asked to enter the Open tournament. This rule is applied at the organisersí discretion

Time limit: 40 moves in 2 hours and then 1 hour to finish

ENTRY FEE £40 (includes prize-giving dinner: juniors £30 entry fee)

Main Prizes £400 : £200 : £100 : £75

Notes:

1. Rounds 1 - 6 commence at 2.00 pm each day. The final round commences at 9.30 am on Saturday. The default time is one hour.

2. ECF grades are converted to Elo using the new ECF conversion formula Elo = ECF * 7.5 + 700.

3. The tournaments as a whole will not be ECF graded. Gold ECF Members who wish to have their games graded must notify the ECF individually prior to the event and submit their results to the ECF following the event. Please see http://www.englishchess.org.uk/grading/grading-games-played-abroad/
